About Power in Solidarity

Over 30 years ago, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native American professionals in philanthropy came together to build a new vision for power in the sector. From this vision, our organizations were born: Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) and Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP).

In honor of our shared origin story, AAPIP and NAP hosted a Gathering of our relatives and relations in the philanthropy field. Together, we celebrated the leadership of our peoples and cultures in the sector, develop strategies to build power and increase resources in our communities, and most importantly—we had fun!

About NAP

Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) promotes equitable and effective philanthropy in Native communities. With more than 30 years of experience, we work closely with our counterpart organizations advocating for Tribal communities. The cornerstone of our work is our relatives and our networks. We support several communities of stakeholders that work together to build knowledge, community, priorities, and power in the sector. These networks include Native professionals in philanthropy, elected Tribal leaders, Native youth leaders, Native philanthropic executives and board members, and Native nonprofit leaders.

AAPIP is a justice-minded, national philanthropy-serving organization that provides unique community spaces for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and allies in philanthropy. Our mission is to expand and mobilize resources for AANHPI communities to build a more just and equitable society in solidarity with all communities of color.
